Here’s what’s in store for Season 14;
- Night of Red Barker (September 2024)
Season 14 kicks off in September with the original site-specific immersive piece Night of Red Barker. This intimate performance takes us to the last night of Lloyd Red Barker, the infamous son of Ma Barker, after he has served time for his crimes. Set in Westminster in the 1940s, Lloyd is attempting to live a quiet life as a bartender at Denargo’s Grill. Unfortunately, his past catches up with him.
This historical site specific immersive piece is as haunting as it is captivating, offering a rare glimpse into the troubled life of a man who couldn’t outrun his past. We encourage you to get in the spirit of the time and dress in your best 1940s attire —Perfect for a Halloween celebration or just to add to the atmosphere of the fall evenings. This immersive, interactive performance will invite you to step back in time and engage with the story like never before.
Then we have,
- Ghost Quartet by Dave Malloy (January 18 – February 8, 2025)
We are beyond excited to return to The Dairy Arts Center this January and February with the regional premiere of Ghost Quartet, the critically acclaimed musical by Dave Malloy, creator of Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812. Malloy’s Ghost Quartet is a genre-defying, immersive song cycle that blends ghost stories, urban legends, folk tales, and haunting melodies into one unforgettable theatrical experience.
We will transform the Carson Theater, and you’ll be invited into our world of antique sofas or plush floor pillows, enjoying whiskey and warm beverages as you take in this haunting performance. Featuring live music spanning gospel, folk, honky- tonk, electropop, and jazz, Ghost Quartet will transport you into a world where the lines between past and present, myth and reality blur.
Ghost Quartet is more than just a show—it’s an experience. And with only 40 tickets available per performance, this intimate, immersive production is one you won’t want to miss. Tickets are on sale now, so grab yours before they’re gone!
In June we’ll bring you,
3. FEED: Wood (June 13-15, 2025)
For the 29th installement of our beloved FEED series we’re thrilled to be collaborating with Boulder’s oldest music shop, Woodsongs, on an exciting event to take place Father’s Day weekend, June 13–15. FEED: Wood explores how both whiskey and guitars are shped by the wood that they are made from. And will feature stories that center musicians and songwriters. Stay tuned for more details, as this event is sure to be a highlight of the season!
In addition to our professional theatre work we will offer several programs for your artist. Including our expanded Educational Residencies program; Bringing Theater to the Classroom (February – May 2025)
The Catamounts are also expanding our Residency Program in 2025, providing an opportunity for young students to engage with the arts in a hands-on way. This is all possible due to sponsor and donor support. From February through May, we’ll be working with second graders at Heatherwood Elementary and first graders at Douglas Elementary in Boulder Valley School District.
In this unique seven-week program, students explore curriculum topics through performance, writing their own scripts, composing music, and creating choreography. The program culminates in a performance presented to an invited audience, giving students the chance to showcase their work and creativity. This year, we’ll be exploring the themes of change-makers and community building, empowering the next generation of artists to see their world in new and creative ways.
And open to all area students between 7-12 Camp Catamounts (June 2025)
After the success of last year’s Camp Catamounts, we’re bringing it back in 2025 for another week of creativity, collaboration, and fun! This week-long camp invites young artists to create their own original performance, drawing inspiration from The Catamounts’ distinctive approach to theater. Last year, campers even developed their own menu and meal, which became a part of their final performance!
Camp Catamounts will return to Lone Hawk Farm in June 2025, and we can’t wait to see what this group of young artists will create next. More details will be coming soon, so keep an eye out!
