Colorado Gives Day–our most important fundraising day of the year–is December 5.
When you are a Catamounts donor, you make the new happen now.
You commission local writers forging fresh ideas in novel formats and venues.
In 2023, writers Jessica Austgen, Sam Gilstrap, Josh Hartwell, Felice Locker, Jeffrey Neuman, and Peter Trinh created brand-new, site-specific, immersive works for The Catamounts. Writers who are telling stories from non-majority perspectives, and respond to the zeitgeist in immediate ways.
My collaboration with The Catamounts and artist Brad Ramsey was one of the most unique and rewarding experiences in my twenty-plus years of writing plays. The Estate Sale was my first dive into immersive theatre (as a writer) and I could not have felt more supported, encouraged, and respected.–Josh Hartwell
As a playwright, if you’re lucky, there are certain projects that not only change the course of your writing career, but also shift your entire thought process about what theater can be, how theater can be made, and what theater can do. I’ve been extraordinarily lucky to strike that creative goldmine twice through collaborations with The Catamounts, both of which have brought me to an exciting new place with my writing, my craft, and my artistic sensibilities. —Jeffrey Neuman
The Catamounts’s encouragement of the writing of new work is rare. From the brainstorming session to feedback on early drafts and rewrites, and throughout rehearsals and performances, the entire process was inspiring and professional.–Felice Locker
In 2023, Catamounts produced two of my original plays for their FEED series. The Cat’s particular brand of “theatre for the adventurous palate” allows me to be expressive beyond bounds. Not only is this my favorite way to work, but I could argue it is how art should be done. Breaking free of tradition from the jump-point of foundational conceptualization – I believe – is the cornerstone to my success in creating unique, original, thought provoking stories with The Catamounts.–Peter Trinh
In 2024, your donation will support a second commission for Jessica Austgen and Chelsea Frye, as well as a first-time Catamount commissions for Ellen K. Graham and Luke Sorge.
You send professional artists to lead young artists through creating and performing their own original work. Our staff Amanda Berg Wilson and Nika Garcia are also committed educators, and in 2023, they led 50 second graders at Heatherwood Elementary through the process of creating and performing their show in honor of Earth Day. Listen to a little of a rehearsal of one of their songs here:
In 2024, we’ll be at Heatherwood again, and your donation will support the hiring of Caulene Hudson to become our first Education Director, to expand our educational programming.
You bring members of our community together in novel and meaningful ways. Said one audience member at one of our FEED events: The people I’ve sat with have been as enjoyable as the performance.
You ensure new ideas and new ways of expressing them thrive in Colorado and beyond, pushing the boundaries of what is considered possible in performance, and in our way of imagining the world.
